Trevor Willard


Trevor (“T.J.”) Willard received his B.A. in History from the University of Colorado. He graduated from the University of Denver College of Law.  Mr. Willard has completed advocacy training through the Western Trial Advocacy Institute, has taught advocacy skills, and completed the Teacher Training Program through the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.


Born in Helena, Montana, T.J. has been a Colorado resident since 1988. Before joining HS&B in 2013, he was in a private practice for eleven years criminal defense and civil litigation.  T.J. has represented clients in state and municipal courts throughout Colorado, including Boulder, Broomfield, Longmont, Golden, Denver, Westminster, Aurora, Englewood, Sterling, Yuma, Wray, Vail, Georgetown, Littleton, Loveland, Ft. Collins, and Greeley.

T.J. Willard is licensed to practice law in Colorado State Courts and the United States Court for the District of Colorado.

Mr. Willard’s practice concentrates on criminal defense of felony and misdemeanor offenses in Municipal, County, and District Courts throughout Colorado, including traffic, DUI and DWAI, hit and run, leaving the scene of an accident, and on companion administrative proceedings, such as DMV hearings and disciplinary proceedings. He does a wide variety of other criminal defense, successfully representing clients on domestic violence charges, assault, drug possession, MIP, sexual crimes and offenses, probation and parole violations, juvenile criminal defense. He also enjoys an appellate practice.

Mr. Willard additionally focuses on numerous aspects of civil litigation, including contract disputes, landlord/tenant matters and evictions, promissory notes, easement disputes, neighbor disputes and disagreements, assault, and negligence.

Organizations and Associations

T.J. is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, Boulder County Bar Association, Adams/Broomfield County Bar Association, Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, Colorado Juvenile Defender Coalition and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Willard is a Fellow of the Boulder County Bar Association and currently serves as the co-chair of the Criminal Law Section of the Boulder County Bar Association.  T.J. is also a Chapter Advisory Board Member of the Colorado Alpha Chapter of the Phi Delta Theta International Fraternity.

Mr. Willard enjoys spending free time with his family and can often be found on a football field or baseball diamond with his three sons.
