Sonny Flowers was educated in the Boulder Public Schools. He received his B.A. from the University of Colorado at Boulder and his J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law.
Attorney Flowers’ practice is concentrated in litigation including plaintiffs’ personal injury, professional malpractice, criminal defense and commercial litigation. He is licensed to practice in the Colorado state and federal courts and has been admitted to practice in the Fourth and Tenth Circuit United States Courts of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
He has represented hundreds of clients in the areas of criminal law from minor traffic offenses to death penalty cases. He has also represented clients and family members in both simple and complex personal injury and medical malpractice cases for wrongful deaths to serious injuries to lesser injury matters. His commercial litigation experience has included contract disputes, civil rights and discrimination claims for both those wronged and businesses accused of wrongdoing, OSHA and MSHA claims and other business disputes
Mr. Flowers worked for Legal Aid in Albany, N.Y., Albuquerque, N.M. and Colorado Springs, C.O. He has been in private practice since 1978, and joined Hurth, Sisk & Blakemore, LLP in 1997.
Organizations and Associations
Attorney Flowers has been active in numerous professional associations and was president of the Boulder County Bar Association, the Sam Cary Bar Association, and the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA), and continues to serve on the CTLA executive committee. He is a former President of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) where he has served on its Executive Committee and its Board of Governors. He was vice-president of the Colorado Bar Association (CBA) and of the National Bar Association. He frequently lectures on trial advocacy and has done so for AAJ’s National College of Advocacy, CTLA, the CBA, the ABA and numerous state trial lawyer associations. Sonny has participated in various civic organizations including the Longs Peak Council of the Boy Scouts and public radio station KGNU in Boulder. He has served on the Board of Directors of Boulder Community Health since 2012. Attorney Flowers served on the Boulder County Board of Community Corrections, the City of Boulder’s Growth Task Force and Board of Zoning Adjustment. He is past president of the University of Colorado at Boulder Alumni Association and is a former member of the University of Colorado Foundation’s Board of Directors.
